The very first thing I cooked as a child was lasagna, which was inspired by my older sister, ate Jessica! So it would be appropriate for me to post my recipe for my lasagna as my debut post on my blog! =) This is, by the way, in no way the traditional way of making lasagna. This is my method and I hope that you’ll all give it a try! Enjoy!

Yield: 6-9 people


  1. Lasagna noodles, cooked and boiled according to package instructions
  2. Cheese, grated for topping



  1. Cooking oil
  2. 2 garlic cloves, finely minced
  3. 2 medium onions, roughly chopped
  4. 2 large carrots, diced
  5. 1 whole broccoli, sliced into smaller pieces
  6. 3/4 kilo ground beef
  7. 1 medium can mushrooms, drained
  8. 1 cup beef stock
  9. 2 tbsps fresh milk
  10. 4 (400 grams) cans of crushed or diced tomatoes
  11. A few leaves of basil
  12. 2 tbsps parsley
  13. 3/4 cup brown sugar, packed
  14. Salt, as needed
  15. Pepper, as needed


  1. Preheat pan with high sides on low heat. Saute garlic and onions until onions become translucent.
  2. Stir in carrots, season with salt and pepper, and cook for 10 minutes.
  3. Add broccoli, season with salt and pepper, and cook for 10 minutes.
  4. Stir in ground beef, season with salt and pepper, and cook until it’s no longer pink.
  5. Add mushrooms, season with salt and pepper, and cook for 3 minutes
  6. Stir in beef stock, milk, and diced tomatoes. Season with salt and pepper and simmer on low heat for 1 hour while it is partially covered. After 1 hour, stir in basil leaves and parsley. Simmer for another hour. After another hour, add brown sugar and adjust seasoning to your desire. Simmer on low heat for 1 more hour or until the sauce has thickened.

  1. 3 tbsps butter
  2. 3 tbsps all-purpose flour
  3. 3 cups cold milk
  4. 2/3 cup cheese, grated
  5. Salt, as needed
  6. Pepper, as needed


  1. Add butter on warm sauce pan until melted then whisk in flour and keep whisking until it reaches a lumpy consistency.
  2. While whisking, add milk and keep whisking until it thickens.
  3. Stir in cheese, salt, and pepper. Adjust seasoning to your desire. Keep whisking until cheese is all melted.
  4. Turn off heat and put aside until needed.

  1. Preheat oven to 400 degree F or 200 degree C
  2. Ladle a small amount of meat sauce on the bottom of a 8×14 inch baking tray
  3. Then arrange the boiled noodles over the meat sauce
  4. Spoon a few tablespoons of the bechamel sauce on the boiled noodles
  5. Then ladle your meat sauce over bechamel sauce
  6. Add your grated cheese. Continue until the baking tray’s full. Cover with aluminum foil, poke a few holes, and bake for 20 minutes. After 20 minutes, uncover, and bake for another 25 minutes.
  7. After a total of 45 minutes, take it out of the oven and let it cool for 15 minutes
  8. Plate up and enjoy!
